Pole Screens

Early houses were such drafty affairs they were sometimes called "wind sifters."  Pole screens are freestanding adjustable panels that were used to block drafts and sometimes to reflect light.   Originals are rare today.  They were natural surfaces for decoration, and often featured painted or needlework panels.  I am happy to hand turn and build one to your specification.  The cherry example below featuring "The Sperm Whale in a Flurry" is available at $675.  The grain painted example with "Capturing a Whale" is SOLD, but I am happy to construct another for you.  Please contact me for more information or to purchase.
